the protector within
We all carry stories shaped by our culture, heritage, family traditions, and lived experiences. This workshop invited participants to explore the symbols, rituals, and personal narratives that have influenced their sense of self and belonging. Through guided reflection, journaling, visualization, and expressive art-making, participants created a symbolic ‘guardian’ or ‘spirit animal’ representing qualities such as protection, resilience, intuition, and inner strength. The process encouraged participants to reflect on the cultural threads that connect past and present, while honoring the diversity of experiences within the group. Grounded in research demonstrating the protective effects of cultural identity on wellbeing, the workshop offered a space to explore how personal and collective stories shape our relationships, strengthen social connection, and support emotional resilience.
